Hey people I'm back from OBS! Haha all of 3 days...mostly made new friends among my colleagues for the next 1o years. Can't say I learned much about leadership and stepping out of my comfort zone and all...not really pushed to the limit. Guess I learnt most of that in ODAC =p
Anyway in other news...today I become the property of the Singapore Police Force. Despite not having signed on the dotted line haha. But the PM's office has given the green light...so it's all systems go. Time to join the men in blue!

its wednesday... only? life without routines, without timings to meet... seems pointless? drifting from place to place... stopping at where the heart and mind beckons.. you feel totally in control of your life, but den u dunno wad you are doing about it... ok mega crap. haha. sitting in pacific cafe on a wednesday morning.. meeting up with secondary school frens for breakfast seems so surreal.. but den again who's complaining. haha. read about RT mugging. ok. looks like i'll be starting my mugging career again.. nooooo... HOWEVER its definitely better then being in GREEN. yucks. grins.

Heyhey.. visited the ODAC room today while collecting A level cert... Hmm..i came across this yellow booklet about OBS sailing..and strangely i saw a familiar handwriting--- JI's... Oh btw the farewell + investiture was 16th july as i saw on the board.. and as i read through the previous entries in the loggie... i saw....... JO's handwriting.. and almost didn want to read the entry.. but becos of our friendship i decided to go through the trouble to make up the scribblings that i saw... haha.. RT you're right :) Hey dont know if u guys believe in feng shui anot. or the chinese horoscope thingy. that ox have a very bad year in the rooster..Hmm... JO? YE? YA? so far nothing has gone right for me.. i think i've lost a general direction.. and even nothing much excites me.. aiyo! how to get rid of this bad luck ar.. shoo..... just gotta keep myself happy :)
And recently i've thought of going to Nepal.. hmm.. wad u guys think?

went back to VJC w RT todae to collect the cert.. stone at ODAC rm 4 quite sum while and saw the 21st and 22nd.haha exams period for them.
Anw the main pt is i discover that we r gg to haf a gathering dinner ( finally ) w the rest of the batches on 30th July, Sat. so 20th keep tt day free ya? ha may we haf the highest attendence rate.. hmm maybe we haf sum of our own program aft tt? make use of the chance. so ppl give sum suggestions ya? like maybe night cycling aft tt? or ton at jy's hse? haha.. and we can all wear our jersey.. : ) nice red jersey.. wheeeee....

hey guys. i missed out on alot too. stuck in my own world in my little room i used to share w SZ in this stupid faraway place called OCS for the past 10 days. so what if there's a radio, a tv, 6 pillows n lots of food? loneliness can kill. trust me on this. cherish those around you. even if they cannot stop talking(DO), listen to them cos one day u MIGHT miss the sound of their voice. even if they cannot stop eating(RT), share with them your food cos one day u MIGHT jus have a whole box of junk food with noone to share with. plus you'll grow fat too.
been sleeping bout ave. 12 hours a day. for e other 12 i either read or surf the net or watch tv or talk to the walls. its like a mini JCC(jungle confidence course), except that u get food frm e cookhse, a nice toilet w shower, and no freaking badge for it.
alrights. enuff of my mindless ramblings. my hse is open for JT's BBQ. jus give me advance notice so i can book e pit. To DO n CH who are leaving tonight, have fun man.
lastly, also to DO & SZ, thanks for ur company these few days. without which i probably would have died. actually u guys didn't have a choice anyway. grins. thanks man.

wow.. din realise i miss out on so much tings... yo ocs.. ms sispec.. congrats.. ocs peeps getting promoted.. congrats to jt.. and ya's trip.. haha sometimes life in cdo realli makes me feel like i'm in my own world.. unlike the company u all haf in ocs.. wow... hey i bet u all dunno i was promoted too! haha my beri 1st n last rank... CORPORAL... haha i 30 yrs old liao oso corporal song...wah damn sad.. nothing compared to the bars in ocs.. hmm yupz i am 1 of the 33 out of 200 tt haben jump in my company... hmm ya... Hmm my fren juz ooc coz of jump.. one of my bez buddy i muz sae... qt sad to c him leave.. he got traumatised by the live descent... n was shocked n dazed for a few daes... haiz... set me thinking... blah u all walk 23 km.. haha so pro... i marched 12km frm pasir ris to hendon... which was right after the parade... den we were turnout in a confined area... we were sprayed with hose n pail from the 1st 2nd n 3rd level.. our welcome is erm... i dunno howta describe... solemn grand n serious... drenched from top to bottom.. we stood dere still as we were surrounded by 200+ commandos crossed arms stern face with their berets and all. the rsm screwed us for our singing and he led a song and GOSH the commandos were OH MY GOD TA MA DE LOUD and SaTT.. sounds as though the whole battalion was dere.. den on the 2nd floor the 1st commando battalion CO addressed us.. u noe it is juz like M-Bison with his many bodyguards giving a speech... haha u got watch street fighter b4? hahaz... okz... and oh ya the bunks were worse off den shuang xi jiu dian in kinabalu... and it fits 24 person.. dun even haf space to move... we are treated like a recruit... juz booked out and goin in 2030 tml.. sianz.. goin to endure 4 months of nitemare... haha the bez ting tt could happen to me is jy's coming back soon! Nez week..hahaz... cya all soon

The Odac Room... wow wee the blog's super noisy! haha. anywae I PASSED I PASSED! HAHAHHAHAHAHAHA. thanx as for offering to help:) ok its not such a big deal lar just that i realli just read thru once and sat for it. thank God i passed mans. haha.:) the computerised system's quite cool and i would have enjoyed it if not for the irritating bangladeshi worker sitting next to me who read every single question out loud! oh man. why do i have to meet with such nenes. hahhaa.
wah ya's entry's mega long! but interesting haha:) yep the easy companionship we have is sth we should all treasure.. feel it all the more now i have to make new frens. its like when we're together there's no nid to pretend to be someone else.. the feeling of being comfortable in our own skin and not be scared of being judged. its getting increasingly harder to have this kind of feeling now..
and ya all the ppl going overseas for training.. im jealous! haha. maybe not. haha. but jealous of ks cos he gets to go south africa. check out the ppl there man! all good looking shits. haha. its my first entry!! goodness.. hha.. was tinkin i can use tis to tell u all bout sri lanka since i'm tired of repeatin to everyone who asks. heh.
we lived bout 50-100m in a hse frm the coast in kahawa(a small village) where the massive waves struck bout 6 mths ago. kahawa's near hikkaduwa which is bout 30min frm galle city. yep..we hav a toilet, a kitchen, 2 rooms n a hall. lucky us. the walls stil hav the mark with which the sea water remained stagnant before it subsided. water pipes were either destroyed or infiltrated wif sea water. so we bathed wif sea-green n saltish water for 2 wks. other hseholds wif no water supply hadta collect water wif pails frm black plastic water tanks situated every 100-200m along the roads. the tanks were donated by the germans.
our objective there was to build beds n shelves for the internally displaced pple (IDP) camp and for pple livin in the temporary shelter homes (TSH). these pple either slp on the grd or on mattresses. in view of the approachin monsoon season in sri lanka, beds were essential. the hses along the coast or rather 50m onwards frm the coast were either torn down by the waves or half standin. some walls remained. some only the stairs to the 2nd storey. the concrete hses were either wiped out leaving huge piles of bricks on sides of the hse platform or the hse stil stands wif all the furniture destroyed/ swept away.
our materials (wood - planks n ply) din arrive until 2 days later so we visited the camps n pple living in the shelters. pple affected by the waves live in either tents or makeshift shelters made from crate wood n zinc sheets. families of at least 3 havta eat, slp, cook n do everythin in tt very small space! (smaller than half the odac room)
the pple there were v hospitable. despite livin in shelters, dey invited us into their little space/ homes n served us tea. the ceylon tea rawks! the place was infested wif houseflies wif no electricity n water supply yet the locals were stil cheery. i gues they've all moved on. the mood was jovial n the kids all bubbly tho some were so shy!
the situation in sri lanka i feel is qt fustratin. the govt is stil tryin to control the aid given to the pple and how much aid is provided. they're stil administering the overflow of aid from all over the world cos when disaster strikes, everyone wants to help!!!! we figure the sri lankan govt wil take many more mths or mayb years to organize everything outside of the developed cities.
the workin days were jus... pure labour. i figured my aim is to help churn out as many beds/ shelves as possible so the hammerin seldom stopped. we all put in our best but its fustratin once again when u see pple gettin distracted. hard to explain k. i thought i learnt nothing frm the trip besides the interactin wif locals part but tinkin back, i tink i did learn smthg. u noe when we go climbin/ expeditions, although we're exposed to tough terrains or challenges we're still surrounded by pple whom we can confide/ complain to n simple rely on but for tis sif trip, i hadta work wif a grp of 13 tt is extremely diversified in character n backgrd n wad hav u. its extremely fustratin! hope u all roughly understand wad i'm tryin to bring across. it's like i dun understand how some pple can act n speak in such a way u least expect them to! many a times durin the trip i was in my own world, introspecting. haha.. on a lighter note, havin defined my purpose of the trip, the 14 days was a breeze. ahha.
so i gues i learnt to appreciate n treasure the tings n frens i hav back home. really :)
oh back to the trip - we only built slightly more than half the no. of beds n shelves we intended to cos of the lack of wood sent to us. when we distributed the beds n shelves it was a scary sight. suddenly we were surrounded by villagers! every one wants a bed/shelf/dynamo torchlight. yes, we brought dynamo torchlights to give out too. its kinda scary so we girls climbed onto the lorries n watch the scenario frm high above. the play packs we packed for the kids which includes a bag, a kite, colour pencils, pencils, pencil cases, erasers, stress balls, art scissors, soft toys etc hadta be packed equally so tt the situation wil not turn ugly when some hav more than the rest. really the situation is so.
we visited the dutch fort in galle, a temple/monastery in hikkaduwa and 5 of us girls extended our stay in Kandy (a tourist must-see in sri lanka) the 5 of us took our chances n went on to visit the nuwara eliya highlands where the tea plantations are. the temperature's bout 20 deg c can u believe it? when it's like a burnin 30 plus in the day at ard 10am when we were at kahawa. the scenery was breathtakin but i wld say mt kinabalu was more heart-stoppin. yes. we ate fried chicken/seafood/mixed noodles/rice ALL THE TIME. cos its the norm dere besides their rice n curry. n their spicy food is really SPICY! HOT! i almost died. bet some of u all wish i had eaten more of their curry rite. but their curry isnt hot at first sip. it slowly creeps in! even their vege cooked by the locals tasted spicy long after chewin! tt's when i almost died. lethal weapons dey hav dere. we din hav leafy green veg for 14days n e only fruits were banananananananananananans. i shat i tink only 2-3 times out of 14 days n its cos i ate laxatives. no milk cos the cows were skinnier than me n milk comes in the form of powder in supermarts.
yes yes. tt's about it. anyway when we had like facilitation during our trip an issue bout YEP trips was raised. did we pay to buy a once-in-a-lifetime experience tt's based on pple's misfortune? cos the 14 days we spent there seemed to hav benefitted us more than the locals? afterall the locals can fix the beds n shelves themselves given the materials rite? dunno. smthg to ponder. for now i wld say the money bought me the opportunity to witness for myself sri lanka (be it the bustling cities or the OTOT countryside lifestlye) n also to really be outta my comfort zone for 15 days at least.
finality. i tink i stil hav problems adjustin back to s'porean lifestyle. all the sale n everything. n wearin a watch whenever i go out. takin a bus wif ezlink etc. (pple simply hop onto buses n pay the fare before they jump off at their destination. no, the buses dun stop at all. unless a woman boards the bus. n pple often havta cling onto the sides of the bus cos its so bluddie crowded hahaha) i wake up on some mornings tinkin i hav laundry to do. qt a scary thought actually. hahah.. i wld say i hav a semi time of my life haha.. odac days r stil the times of my life :)

Ahh...end of service term at last. Freedom! Well for a while at least. Haha. Congratz to all the new 3-bar cadets...great job finishing the 23 km march. Haha I'm proud to have led the whole marching cohort back to OCS...good to be front man of Delta Wing haha. Feel a fierce pride for Delta. Guess it's the fact that what we went through in Delta is some of the toughest OCS has to offer, and we survived it. 'No one can take that away from us'. Hahaha. Square that away!
Good luck to those going Brunei for Lancer soon. Tough stuff. And to those staying in Infantry, Delta welcomes you! Wahahahaha...
Hope to meet up with you guys more. Miss every single one of u. Even ang meng siong, weird as it is. Hahahaha. Let's go BBQ at SN's place sometime! My treat. Hahahahaha. Hope can get SPFOS. PM please give the green light. Should get the result soon...

Anyway the 23 km march means a lot to u guys~ so i'm glad u guys went through it, and YO had to welcome u guys back! so cool.. haha. okay.. well des n ch is gonna go to sig.. have fun in brunei!! Hmm the rumour is true social night does indeed burn a big hole in one's wallet. But hey the sad realities of life eh...in the ancient name of chivalry and gentlemenhood this must be the norm. I'm one of the lucky ones already...hate to think how much guys with actual girlfriends must have spent. But well guys, get used to it, eh. Least we're earning a fair bit. Money well spent on 'gentleman training' hahahahha.
