Sialah. Damn long never post here already. Super MIA.

Well, how's everyone doing? Term is winding down for me...winter break is on the horizon. I've learnt much this term, but the main accomplishments have come in the kitchen lol, as I try not to poison myself day by day whilst cooking my own meals. AS will provide the litmus test as to whether I have acquired culinary skillz.

Hahaha and of course I've learnt a fair amount of engineering stuff, almost all of which will not be very helpful when I'm trying to solve crimes next time. Still, it is very interesting to learn about how to partially differentiate and integrate. And solve things using function approximations and Rutta-Kunga approximations. Hahahaha.

Won't be going home this Xmas break though. Going Italy for 18 days, then spending the rest of the break nua-hing in Oxford. Going to check out Venice Florence Rome Naples and Sicily = super awesome!! Sadly just not economical to go home for like 3 wks. AS is coming over on the 23rd though! And staying for a few days, so he'll be here for Xmas. The Singaporeans here are planning to have a little Xmas dinner thing, so it's all good. Hahaha should be fun, although I do miss the annual BBQ at SN's place.

Miss you guys lots. I find myself sometimes daydreaming and wandering back to the good ol' times in JC in the ODAC room where we'd waste time oh-so-indiscriminately. And of course the wild boar that awakened RT and me during OLC 2004 will always be remembered. And the NR routine of Hurricane during OLC 2003. And the night-cycling trip to Changi where we waited till sunrise to find the sun blocked by clouds. And the endless Ubin recces, bookended by plates of nasi lemak at Changi Village.

Ahhh. Good times.

How times have changed. Everyone's so busy now, and some of us (read: AS and me) aren't even on the same island. The guys will be entering uni soon, while the girls will be graduating uni soon after they enter. I wonder how we'll fare as a group of friends after the paper chase ends and the inevitable entrance to the workforce arrives. Hopefully we'll have at least twice-yearly gatherings or something. And have reunion outings where we'll meet each other's other halves and be happy for one another (read: semi-distant future lol). And definitely be present at all the weddings. Hahaha. Looks set to be awesome eh.

In the meantime, can those MIA people please update something about what's going on in their lives on the bloggie! I've taken the first step, so should you!

Take care, all

Just to add on to rina's video...

This video is about a father and son partnership. Dick (father) and Rick (son) Hoyt from america. Rick was partially strangeled by his umbilical cord when he was born so was brain-damaged and cannot control his limbs. But He can communicate by tapping a computer key with his head.

After he told his father that he wanted to run in a charity run for a paralysed schoolmate, his father agreed and ran the race carrying him.

Rick said that he did not feel paralysed when he was being pushed in a wheelchair by his dad... so from then on, they enter marathons and triathalons together. They cant enter as a singel runner, or as a wheelchair competitor so Dick just runs so fast pushing his son, that they qualify within the regular race qualification time for regular runners. (the young man qualifying time not the senior category!)

Its amazing! and they are only 35 mins off the world record marathon time! Because of the races, Dick (the dad) even managed to survive a heart blockage simply because he was very fit. So in some sense the son even saved the father.

As of June, 2005 Team Hoyt had participated in a total of 911 events, including 206 Triathlons (6 of which were Ironman competitions), 20 Duathlons, and 64 Marathons, including 24 consecutive Boston Marathons. They also biked and ran across the USA in 1992, a 3,735 mile journey that took them 45 days.

When asked what one thing Rick wished he could give his father, his reply was "The thing I'd most like is that my dad would sit in the chair and I would push him once."

Hey guys! Its getting ccoldd heree. Its 5 Degs during the day, and at night it drops to -1 or even -3 Deg. And its not even near winter! Hehe, have to wear 3 layers! If you want to have a feel of it, just put your hands in the freezer.

Went out for a singaporean dinner just now,(dinner with the singaporeans from other years) at a chinese restaurant. And of all the singaporeans i met, the person who sat beside me happened to be a senior, my senior, and that's your senior. This guy was from VJC! and upon furthur questioning I also found out he was from ODAC. How cool huh, he was from the 17th batch, his name is Raymond Leong, the land chief. Currently a third year med in RCSI. How cool is that? Had a good time talking about ODAC and stuff, and also about Mr Seet. haha.

I've decided not to come back for christmas anymore, but instead, joining JT in london! But I would be coming back on my term break, thats probably the late january to mid feb. Updated the imagestation with the farewell pics frm my cam (sorry its a bit late).

I heard u guys have obtained your Pink I/C! Nice. Guess most of you would ORD tomorrow, i think. So have u got anything to share about your NS life? For me it was probably different from everyone elses'.(Then again everyone would think this way too.) I felt that I left my workplace feeling fulfilled, enriched, with a totally different mentality than I thought I would end it with. Isnt it wonderful how your thoughts could be influenced by others, and in that way, bring you to greater heights.
Are you true to yourself, or do you just live to be an image to others?
Cheers,
AS

P.S. I still think NS is a waste of 2 years of your time. Some of my classmates are 18. I'm 21 soon.
